HISTORY OF GOLAGHAT DISTRICT JUDICIARY

    The Judicial Court of the District & Sessions Judge, Golaghat was inaugurated on 13th of August 1988 by the then Hon'ble Justice Mr A. Raghubir, Chief Justice, Gauhati High Court, Guwahati. The first roll of honour of District & Sessions Judge, Golaghat was Shri A. C. Saikia, M.A, LL.B. The Dhansiri Sub-Divisional Courtof Golaghat District at Sarupathar was established in 1996. It is to be mentioned that establishment of Judicial Court in Bokakhat Sub-Division is also under process. Altogether the establishment of the District & Sessions Judge and the Chief Judicial Magistrate comprises of 11 courts manned by Judicial Officers of various grades. Golaghat is a beautiful plot though the District Judiciary doesnot have its own building but efforts are on foot to make its own building and the nucleus has already been formed.
